indieDriver includes a one hour Roadtest review, a $75 value, with our Class C Drivers Education course. Note: we cannot guarantee a practice test if you do not give us enough notice. Therefore we ask you to please set this up when you are submitting your hours –NOT when you receive your appointment letter!
Drivers Education in Maine is comprised of 30 hours of classroom and 10 hours of behind the wheel training that must be completed BEFORE a minor may attain their driving permit. The hours of our classes vary based upon the schedule; we do what we can to be flexible and create a schedule that can work with you.
A MANDATORY ORIENTATION is for both Parent/Guardian AND Student (must attend before Class 1). All Orientation sessions are via Zoom and begin at 7pm, ending at 8:30pm.
You will receive links to both the class and the orientation after you have registered.

- Classes meet Sunday and Monday from 6pm-9pm (no zoom classes after the second session and final exam Monday June 29 in person)
- Orientation Sunday May 31, 4pm via zoom
- Held via Zoom and online independent study (indieDriver link to AAA online needed)
- Cost: $700 plus $39.95 AAA member and $49.95 non-member AAA online registration fee
- This Blended program consists of a mandatory online orientation (5/31/26) (Parent/Student), two classes (3 hours each) conducted via Zoom on a schedule with our Class A instructor. Once these requirements are met, you can begin the AAA Online Self-Paced course. At the conclusion of the course, you will need to attend your last class in-person to take the written permit test. Your tuition includes ten hours of behind-the-wheel training. The Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles requires that students complete the online course work prior to attending the in person class to take the written permit test.
